There are several folks working on it, unfortunately, it's going to be a small while before the non-English speaking world hears them clearly. Its coming though, and it's going to be huge.

Re: Have Tablets and Mobiles Changed How You View/Use the Bible

How about something really concrete and real for minority languages that does not touch English - making the Bible available in digital format on phones will make the text more accessible for many, but at the same time it could undermine the business model of some national Bible Societies and potentially bankrupt them.

Re: Desknots and the 7 Deadly Myths of Mobile

Absolutely
right, I do agree with your post. I purchased one in January. I really enjoy it and it has been very useful, especially when I have been on the move. With the Eee Pad I have no need for a laptop. My phone, desktop, and Eee Pad meet my communications and computing needs.

Re: Wearables As A Mobile Ministry Approach

Yep, and with Portable Apps, you run FireFox and lots of other stuff right off of the USB. (Not sure if you need admin privileges on the machine to launch though.)

But I like the idea of just wearing one of these and being able to meet someone and just give it to them.

Best if the giver is a able to do followup directly, but the bands could be printed with some other connection point, perhaps 888-NEED-HIM (http://needhim.org/).

Re: [Guest Post] Discoverabiltiy (Or, Why You Just Can’t Do An App)

Nice piece!
For the Droid2 phone I like MySword for Android. It has many versions of the Bible, highliters, commentaries, KJV with word by word Strongs Greek and Hebrew words, variable screen font size, etc.

Re: Mobile Industry Review and the Emporia Telecom Series

MIR published videos 7 and 8 of this series after this post was written up; those are also worth taking a look at to get the entire story of how they are meeting the needs - successfully - and manging to stay ahead of the changes in mobile and its consumers.

Re: Using Your Tablet for Bible Studies

Yeah, I actually experimented with that tonight in Bible Class. Worked pretty well. I may use my iPhone or a Physical Bible and see how that works. I have the NIV Study Bible and BibleXpress on my iPad. BibleXpress has a nice notation capability. I have the bible on my mobile and I just let the notes happen on the iPad. Not that I can't do a Bible on the iPad, but its been an easier flow to things.
You should also look at YouVersion and OliveTree apps, which have the capacity to take notes alongside the text. Though, none of them are doing this kind of drawing/inking (yet?).

Re: Using Your Tablet for Bible Studies

I would like to do this more but I need to figure out how to "flip" back and forth between Note Taking and my Bible on my iPad. My iPad has replaced my physical Bible. (Of course it was about 30 years old. It was time for a new one anyway.) It lamppost seems to be better to have a physical Bible and use iPad for Notes.

Re: The Future of Bible Software

Antonio, you will want to consult Nokia's Support forums or just a web search for this in the future.

From the homescreen, dial *#7370# and then follow the prompts. That will reset your mobile back to factory conditions.

Re: The Future of Bible Software

I need OS nokia N95 (13.01) my phone restart?? please help me..

Re: 2012 Resolution #4: All Books Project and Mobile UX Standards

Got thinking sme more about your comment. "A dime a dozen..." Its not a dime a dozen to build one from near-scratch. Especially for someone self taught in matters of faith and tech ;)

This will lead to an ability to teach others how to do similar, with minimal programming knowledge, but with an ability to use both what's available and what's imagined to create something personally and communally effective. I don't know that that's the aim of any bible apps, let along the focus of any of the companies doing this.

For that aim, and a few others, this is why I do this project.

Re: Don’t Forget the Non-Smartphone Folks

Just posted a piece over at my personal site which addresses why even a cheap smarpthone isn't the answer to increasing access or user-profitability of mobility: http://arjw.wordpress.com/2012...

These are the kinds of thoughts that you need to have when thinking about your mobile strategy, and how far you can go whether you are dealing with a community you know, or an unexplored market.

Re: 2012 Resolution #4: All Books Project and Mobile UX Standards

I agree. Reading, highlighting, notes, etc are the norm. This project has me looki beyond that. Specifically, how can I build a mobile bible, and one that has the kind of unique navigational features (colors, text, etc) which fit how I (personally learn).

Recording quiet times... I guess that's needed. But how so more than the calendar already in ones device? Would you have some more info as to how you see this working out?

Merge ministry and tech... No better way than harnessing both to build the journal of your faith's history ;)

Re: 2012 Resolution #4: All Books Project and Mobile UX Standards

Hey brother, your project and moreover, your heart for this project is obviously genuine but far exceeds this fact. Having a Bible for mobile devices is becoming "a dime a dozen."

However, a mobile application that provides the ability to merge ministry & technology with a persons obedient passion to learn more is desperately needed.

For instance, reading, highlighting, underlining, etc. seems to be the norm. How about an option to allow for placing annotations anywhere on the page? An excellent IOS app that provides this function is iAnnotate.

An option for recording daily quiet times is desperately needed. I've found none that do this. And similarly, an area to journal prayer requests.

I must admit I am compelled with this blog. Who would have thought tech and, well, religion, can mash up together. Interesting.

Anyway, I find it interesting to use the Kindle to read the Bible. I read the Bible, as in the real book for atleast 30 minutes a day. It's a pocket one, and even though I am in the industry of laptop trade in, I still don't think the gadgets of today can replace the Bible. It can complement yes, but still people of tomorrow should not rely on these tablets to replace the thousand-old Bible which remains relevant up to this day.

Re: 2012 Resolution #5: Become A Digital-Faith Advocate

Offering themselves is indeed a possibility, but there is also a piece of gifts/talent-literacy that's lacking in many churches, else this wouldn't be a question that would need to be asked.
We have more to come on this, stay tuned...
